What is Creative Marketing?

Marketing as we know refers to delivering the right message to the right audience at the right time.

Well, If it was only that simple.😜

Marketing Then vs Now

Up until a few years ago, things were fine. The “Era of Content Marketing” had just begun and we marketers adopted it into our marketing strategy.

We used to just churn out blog posts, share the same on Facebook, tweet it on Twitter and wait for the traffic to flow. It was so easy back then.

But is that still the case now? There are literally 1000’s of blog posts and ultimate guides targeting the same keyword. What’s trending today on Twitter is old news tomorrow.

Facebook reach isn’t how it used to be. Nowadays you can see some results only if you spend money on ads.

The term organic reach has almost become extinct these days.

Email Marketing used to be so effective back in the early 2000’s. Even Gary Vaynerchuk had a whopping 90% open rate back then. Whereas these days, even 20% is considered as a miracle.

So what went wrong?

There are 100’s of medium through which 1000’s of Marketers are trying to reach 100,000’s of people simultaneously.

The result is that the mediums are getting saturated and it’s getting harder than ever to make an impact these days.

Do you really understand Content Marketing?

Content marketing is all about,

Step 1: Creating and Publishing Content

Step 2: Getting Social Shares for your content

Step 3: Converting Visitors to Leads

However simple this 3 step process may appear, most marketers are stuck in step 1. They create tons and tons of content. Some pay importance to the quantity. Other’s say it’s more about the quality.

In reality, there is no hard and fast rule. The rules may vary depending on your target audience.

As a responsible content marketer you should repeat the steps 1 and 2 continuously until you find a pattern with your audience.

Your goal is to write quality content that will resonate with your audience and generate quality social shares.

Only then you’ll progress to step 3. It’s not like people will read one of your blog posts and instantly sign up for your product.

Remember the more interactions you’ve with your audience, the more likely they are to become your customers.

Rand Fishkin, the Founder of Moz in one of his vlogs explained that it takes an average of 7 interactions for Moz to even get a visitor to sign up for their free trial.

Now, you can imagine how hard it’s gonna be for a startup! This is where Creative Marketing comes in!

What is Creative Marketing?

Creative Marketing is the process of producing astonishingly innovative content at minimal cost that builds brand recognition among people in 2 interactions or less.

As a startup you don’t have time to wait for 7 interactions to make your first sale. This could take a lot of time than anticipated.

While there are many reasons for startups failing, inability to attract an audience is one of the prime causes. Having a good product will lay the foundation for driving attention and revenue. Creative marketing is what’ll help you take things to the next level.

It’s all about creating that lasting memory in your audience’s minds even without that many interactions!

Here are three golden rules to ensure that you’re doing creative marketing:

  • Your content should stand out due to its uniqueness.
  • You should come up with such content on a low budget.
  • You should ideally generate leads in 2 interactions or less.

There are tons of startups who hacked their way up with creative marketing!

One of the best examples is Flash Pack, a company that helps solo travellers to go on awesome adventures around the world.

The Ultimate Selfie

Lee Thompson, the company’s founder had a very humble marketing budget of $800. Instead of wasting it on paid advertising, he took a trip to Rio De Janeiro. He got special permission to take a selfie on top of Christ the Redeemer statue.

The image was a instant viral hit in social media and pulled in 2.5 million visitors to the company’s website within a week!

Even we at Animaker have done various creative marketing campaigns in the past. One such campaign is the “The Mad Scientist” campaign which instantly generated us 50,000+ new users within just 10 days into running the campaign.

Creative Marketing — the future of digital marketing?

Creative marketing is a trend that’ll stay because of two main things — content saturation and competition. These two factors are only going to rise in the coming years. Companies will have to come up with creative campaigns to make an impact.

One of the greatest aspects about creative marketing is that it cannot be replicated by your competitors or anyone else.
